Cabrillo Pavilion
The 1927 bathhouse next door, restored and reopened — a fitness centre, an events hall, a café, and the Shipwreck Playground beside it. It is the nearest thing to a gym for guests here.

Small, hilly and unusually well set up, with a view over the ocean from the giraffe deck. Easily walkable from here, which is not true of most zoos.

Stearns Wharf and the waterfront
The oldest working wharf in California, with the Sea Center at the end of it. State Street runs inland from there — the Funk Zone first, then the shops and restaurants.
